The Farm
Heirloom Fungi is located on 100 acres of open land in Macon County, Missouri. Our farm is full of beautiful timber, and our mushroom house is full of activity.
We produce woodland mushrooms, which naturally grow in a forest setting. They need light, fresh air, and high humidity.
Substrate Preparation
Our gourmet mushrooms are grown on hardwood sawdust and solid logs, which we produce from our own trees. We often experiment with different wood species to see how the mushrooms respond. You can visit our blog for updates on these ongoing experiments.
The Mushroom House
Our climate-controlled mushroom house is the heart of Heirloom Fungi. It features heated or cooled floors, depending on the season, HEPA filtered air, ultrasonic produced humidity, and precisely maintained temperature and lighting that simulates spring or fall. Our mushrooms have an almost perfect world!
